Severe Weather Awareness Week 2010

Johnson County in conjunction with Statewide and National efforts is supporting Severe Weather Awareness Week March 8-12.  In Johnson County, Severe Weather Awareness Week will focus on changing perceptions about emergency preparedness related to severe weather and will help local citizens understand what it truly means to be Ready. Several activities, programs and events have been established to help meet this mission.

     
Seminar Series Educational Videos Monthly Siren Test
The Second Annual Severe Weather Awareness Seminar Series provides education and training to leaders of local organizations and businesses with a unique vulnerability to severe weather.  Target groups this year include indoor entertainment, outdoor entertainment, special needs providers, and religious and faith centers.  More information is available by clicking here. Johnson County Emergency Management & Homeland Security, in conjunction with multiple community partners, have developed these videos to provide more information about severe weather awareness and share with your friends!  They are available here. Johnson County will be conducting its monthly test of the outdoor warning siren on Thursday,  March 11th at 1:30 PM. This has been postponed from the original date (Tuesday, March 9th) due to a slight chance for severe weather that day. StormReady Designation Events Preparedness Partners

When Seconds Count, StormReadyŽ Communities are Prepared.  Johnson County has received this special designation to assure local citizens that the County is prepared for severe weather threats!

Johnson County participates in many different events during National Preparedness Month.  Click here for a full list of activities.
