Johnson County Emergency Management & Homeland SecurityJOCOAlert
JOCOALERT
is a SMS text message service that seeks to offer timely notification of
dangerous weather alerts or other related emergency management
information for Johnson County. Instructions for receiving messages via
text message are included in the training linked below.
JOCOALERT
is one of Johnson County’s official sources of emergency public
information related to an emergency, disaster, or community-wide
incident. This includes the
redistribution of official “products” from the National Weather Service
including watches, warnings, and advisories.
Although an
official source of information, JOCOALERT is dependent on
external systems outside of the control and maintenance of Johnson
County. Consequently,
Johnson County cannot guarantee JOCOALERT as a solitary source of
emergency public information.
Johnson County recommends all citizens use the information
available through JOCOALERT along with other trusted sources such as a
NOAA All-Hazard Weather Radio, Emergency Alert System, and local media.
The
JOCOALERT system is provided without charge to the
general public; however, those receiving text alerts via wireless device
may incur personal charges based upon their service plan. Please contact
your wireless provider for details before subscribing to
JOCOALERT.
