United Way 2-1-1
Will Make it Easier to Find Help

Johnson County Emergency Management & Homeland Security is pleased to announce the launching of a free new service that will make finding help as easy as picking up your phone and dialing 2-1-1.

Just as 9-1-1 provides quick, easy-access to police, fire and other emergency services, United Way 2-1-1 offers quick access to the thousands of social service programs and agencies that can help us cope with life’s everyday problems. And for those interested in volunteeri
ng, it will also become the easiest way to learn about current volunteer opportunities and get connected with agencies and programs that could use their help. The call is free and confidential.

United Way 2-1-1 will be available in the extended Kansas City metro area, including 23 counties in western Missouri and eastern Kansas. Calls will be answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by trained professionals who have immediate access to resources and information. No more leaving a message and waiting for someone to ca
ll back. Instead, callers will be connected with knowledgeable, caring call specialists, who ask clarifying questions and help callers determine which programs or services are best equipped to help.

In addition to providing direct access to information, organizations and community services, United Way 2-1-1 will also serve as a vital link and coordinating point during local, regional and national emergencies and disasters. United Way 2-1-1 will function as a simple, easy way for people to get help or give help when cl
ear channels of communications are critical.
